Bill Kontzias has specialized in location photography since 1981. He's been commissioned by corporations, graphic designers and publications, traveling throughout the USA and Europe photographing people, places and design products.
As a studio assistant for Francesco Scavullo, Bill enhanced his awareness and insight for his speciality lighting. He was a key part of this fashion and celebrity studio's production team for over three years.
Also, he assisted Bill King and Bert Stern on several advertising and editorial photography projects. His professional photography expertise is rooted in celebrity portraiture and fashion photography.
Bill began his professional free lance photography career with Massimo Vignelli Associates where he turned his creative eye, lighting, and camera skills towards photographing interior architecture, design, and people.
He conceptualized, designed and photographed an international, critically acclaimed children's book - LOOK and SEE - published by Holiday House in 2014. LOOK and SEE was translated into Japanese in 2015.
Holiday House published Bill's second children's book - READ and SEE - in 2018.
Bill continues to explore lighting and new still life ideas, as well as, his on-going fascination with photographing people, places and the human drama.
Since 2000, he has served as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Communications Design Department at Pratt Institute.
